The ICHR has a Library-cum-Documentation Centre for History and allied subjects. Over the years, it has developed into a fairly large reference library. It has a total collection of over 60,000 books/journals. It regularly subscribes to approximately 110 foreign and Indian journals / periodicals.

The Library-cum-Documentation Centre provides reprographic services. A total number of 488 photocopies were provided to researcher at nominal rates in 2006-07, and readers to the library during this period, numbered 2,026.

The ICHR takes pleasure in announcing that the plans, initiated earlier, for the computerization of the library acquisition and the modernization of the library facilities are near completion. JSTOR and DELNET facilities are being installed for easy accessibility of research material.
